Former ISD Detainee Zulfikar Shariff: 1 SGD to 3 MYR is nothing to be proud of!

Zulfikar Shariff, a ISIS supporter and Malay supremacist is currently residing in Australia after his release from ISD detention. He thinks that Singaporeans should stop using the Singapore-Malaysia exchange rate to compare which country is doing better economically. He claims that if Malaysia stopped exporting food products to us, or if we had equal currencies, Singaporeans would suffer! Our lifestyle would be disrupted because of our reliance on cheap Malaysia exports.

In his video, “Suhaimi Lazim” disagrees with him, stating that Malaysia have cut our supplies of chickens and eggs before, but it did not affect Singapore much. Singapore ended up looking for alternative supplies from Thailand and Indonesia. No country relies on a single supplier for their daily necessities; there will always be other willing sellers if Malaysia decides to cut our food supply. Others also called him out for his poor understanding of the global supply chain and illogical comparisons of Malaysia and Singapore.

It is absurd to even think of the possibility of 1 Ringgit being equal to 1SGD. Zulfikar Shariff is obsessed with making videos critical of Singapore. If he really had faith in the Malaysian government, why did he choose to migrate to Australia instead? He ought to spend his retirement years in peace, away from social media and hopefully free from incarceration.
