The Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) has responded to the recent revival of the The Online Citizen (TOC) website and social media platforms.

In response to CNA's media inquiries, IMDA stated that Singapore's present regulations will apply to the media: "The Online Citizen's class licence was revoked because it repeatedly refused to comply with the requirement to identify its financing sources, including foreign financial backing."

"The IMDA is aware of the new website and social media accounts situated abroad."

In addition, "The Protection from Online Falsehoods and Manipulation Act (POFMA) and the Foreign Interference (Countermeasures) Act (FICA) will continue to apply."
