The Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) will return to Singapore in 2029, 14 years after the country last hosted the event.

In a joint press release, the Singapore National Olympic Council (SNOC) and Sport Singapore (SportSG) announced that members of the SEA Games Federation accepted Singapore's bid to host the biennial event on Thursday in Hanoi (May 12).

"We are delighted to once again host the famous regional sporting event in Singapore. The Southeast Asian Games offer important memories and experiences for Singapore and our Southeast Asian neighbors, according to SNOC president Tan Chuan-Jin.

"Singapore is once again pleased to host the 35th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in order to recreate these moments of friendship and competition."

2015 was the last time Singapore hosted the SEA Games.

"Hosting the SEA Games will allow Team Singapore athletes to compete against some of the best in the region, with strong home-field support, once again." Minister for Culture, Community, and Youth Edwin Tong stated that the spirit of the SEA Games can unite Singaporeans from all walks of life together to support and rally behind our athletes and enhance our national unity.
