In a now viral TikTok video (637.7k views), TikTok user @wardrodewinter was reprimanded by an Eat staff for trying to consume outside food at their restaurant at Plaza Singapura. He was apparently unaware of the rules and wanted to film a food mukbang there. He appeared confused when confronted, but eventually left the restaurant to eat at Tori-Q which he initially purchased from.

Some of his international followers were quick to assume that this was a racially motivated act. They lauded him for doing so well in the face of this alleged racial harassment. However, some Singaporean netizens were quick to defend the Eat staff for stepping in. They explained that it is a common practice for food establishments to prohibit diners from eating outside food.

It is always heartening to see Singaporeans step in to defend a fellow Singaporean who has been falsely accused. Although TikTok user @wardrodewinter made an initial mistake of sitting in the wrong dining area, he handled this incident graciously and moved away to dine at the correct area.
